Yep, you read it right - Chet Faker is back!
Just over four years since Nick Murphy announced he was taking a break from the project, the Chet Faker moniker is set to return including a new label deal with BMG.
“For Nick Murphy to bring the Chet Faker project back to life and trust the BMG team in his home market to execute this surprise return is a great honour," said BMG Australia & New Zealand managing director Heath Johns (who features in this year's The Power 50 list).
"Nick has delivered a Chet Faker track with decade-defining potential and we will deliver creatively with trademark BMG Australia innovation while ensuring that Nick owns his own masters and has complete creative control - once again demonstrating to Australia’s best artists that these concepts need not be mutually exclusive."
New music is on the way too, with a yet to be named single set for release tomorrow, Friday 2 October.
Under the Chet Faker moniker, Murphy took out five ARIA Awards - Best Male Artist, Best Independent Release, Best Cover Artist, Engineer of the Year and Producer of the Year - for his 2014 debut album, Built On Glass.
The album also saw Murphy top the 2014 triple j Hottest 100 with Talk Is Cheap, while also claiming #7 with Gold, #8 with 1998 and #21 with his cover of (Lover) You Don't Treat Me No Good from Like A Version.
