Noel Gallagher has cancelled his Double J appearance which was set to take place later this week, citing illness as the reason.

The Oasis legend was due to appear on Tim Rogers Liquid Lunch program as part of ARIA Week celebrations.

Gallagher is currently in the country as support for U2's Joshua Tree anniversary tour.

"Unfortunately, Noel Gallagher has had to cancel the Double J Liquid Lunch Live event with Tim Rogers," read a statement from Gallagher's management to Double J.

"Due to illness, Noel has been advised to focus on the upcoming High Flying Birds shows with U2 in Australia this month."

The U2 tour continues on to Sydney this Friday and Saturday and then wraps in Perth next week.
