The Queensland Music Awards have today unveiled a brand new category for the 2020 awards.
The Emerging Artist Of The Year award is now open to early-career Queensland musicians who have up to five years of songwriting experience.
The winner of the award will receive a Noisegate Producer Package, valued at $2,905, as well as "a one-on-one session with a leading booking agent, manager and publicist as well as a QMusic one-on-one session and an invitation to attend the 2020 Amplify Songwriting Retreat".
"QMusic has introduced the Emerging Artist Of The Year Award to showcase our commitment to supporting and developing emerging artists in our local music industry,” said QMusic CEO and QMAs Executive Producer Angela Samut.
"We support the careers of artists at every stage in their careers and with this new Emerging Award, we endeavour to identity new and exciting talent in Queensland and to be able to work with them in putting in place career pathways to help them achieve success.
“As well as the winner, QMusic will be reaching out to the five runners up for the Emerging Artist Of The Year Award and place them in a QMusic 'Ones to Watch and Listen' initiative providing them with opportunities as well as highlighting their work through our QMusic playlists and video storytelling."
Applications for the award close this Thursday 24 October at midnight.
The Song Of The Year award is set to return again in 2020 with the prize increased to a value of $24,000 from The Music and the Hit Network. Brisbane artist Clea took out the award earlier this year and scored herself a spot on the Valley Walk Of Fame.
