The Masked Singer Australia is now in its third week and honestly, we're hooked on it like the other million people that are tuning in each night.
The last few weeks have seen the likes of Gretel Killeen, Brett Lee, Nikki Webster, Wendell Sailor and Darren McMullen unmasked, and now Adam Brand, one Australia's best-known and most successful country artists, has been revealed as The Dragon.
It was a rocky few weeks for Brand on the show, receiving harsh criticism for his performances of Sheppard's Geronimo and Katy Perry's Roar. The singer shared that he had been sick with a stomach issue that had impaired his earlier performances.
Ultimately, Brand's performance of Shut Up And Dance by Walk The Moon scored positive feedback from the judges last night but wasn't enough to save him from elimination.
Twitter was rife with guesses about who The Dragon would be, with people referring to Brand's time racing in the V8 Utes category ("I guess you could say I’ve done a few more laps than the average Aussie dragon"), that he was born in Perth ("I am a western dragon") and his band The Outlaws with Drew McAlister, Travis Collins, Matt Cornell and Mike Carr ("And at times, I’ve lived outside the law").
It was also pointed out that Brand sold skateboards as merchandise when he revealed a skateboard as an additional clue ("To give your best, you need great balance in your life and this is how I wind down after gigs around the country").
While the judges Lindsay Lohan, Jackie O and Dave Hughes threw a number of suggestions around - including Australian Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo and musicians Keith Urban, Lee Kernaghan and Shannon Noll - it was Danni Minogue who correctly identified Brand as The Dragon.
Throughout his extensive career, Brand has been the winner of 12 Golden Guitar Awards and has been nominated for nine APRA Awards and six ARIA Awards.
Brand's 2004 album Get Loud and 2006's What A Life are both gold certified in Australia, while his self-titled debut (1998), Good Friends (2000) and Built For Speed (2004) have all hit platinum.
Following Brand's reveal, he shared that he had chosen to do the show for his daughter.
"If there is one main reason why I did the show, if it's a few years down the track - maybe three or four years down the track - my little girl in the lounge room and she's talking to one of her friends and she's saying 'my daddy is a dragon. My daddy is a singing dragon'," he told host Osher Gunsburg.
"One day, my little girl is going to be proud that her daddy was the singing dragon."
The program has celebrated another huge week in the ratings, with last night's episode drawing in 713,000 viewers for the performances and 877,000 viewers for the reveal.
Brand will be heading around Australia for his Speed Of Life tour from March next year. Head to theGuide for all the info.
