Last year's debut event was a huge success and now The Melbourne Sessions is returning for 2019.

Put on by APRA AMCOS and the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria | Music Under Wings program, The Melbourne Sessions are a "mix of genre-based masterclasses and workshops" for emerging and mid-career songwriters and composers.

This year's event will take place on Friday 5 July, where attendees will have the chance to work alongside the likes of Mark Seymour, Joelistics, Bertie Blackman, Darren Middleton, Jess Ribeiro, Nkechi Anele and more. Additionally, there will be an In Conversation chat with a yet-to-be-announced international guest.

"The Melbourne Sessions is about providing a forum to share, try on new ideas, and get to know other creatives," shares Joelistics. "There was so much enthusiasm to learn and to be challenged at my workshop last year, I am thrilled to be coming back."

"We are excited to continue our partnership with Creative Victoria to present an even stronger program for theMelbourne Sessions in 2019," adds APRA AMCOS Head of Member Services Jana Gibson.

"The first event was a resounding success and provided more than 200 songwriters and composers invaluable access to mentors across multiple genres and created strong connections with other like-minded creatives.

"This year we’re expanding on that and offering more mentors and more skills development opportunities. While many artists work independently, it’s particularly prominent in music and these types of events can be integral to getting your career to the next stage."
