Stranger Things creators the Duffer Brothers are in hot water after a lawsuit has been filed that accuse the siblings of stealing the idea for their smash-hit series.
As reported by TMZ, filmmaker Charlie Kesser is claiming in the lawsuit that he produced a short film in 2012 entitled Montauk that contains several plot points included in Stranger Things.
Kesser says that in April 2014, he and his agents pitched the Duffer Brothers the short film concept as a full-scale TV series, which never eventuated.
In April 2015, Netflix announced that they were picking up a show that was then titled Montauk, which eventually became Stranger Things.
Kesser claims that the brothers used his script, idea, story and film to create Stranger Things and is seeking monetary compensation and that all materials that were allegedly made from his concept to be destroyed.
The Duffer brothers are yet to publicly comment on the allegations.
