With only two weeks to go until the main event, WAM has rolled out another juicy announcement for the 2017 WAMAwards, including the local legends to be inducted into the Hall Of Fame this year.
Celebrating established and emerging talent at Claremont Showgrounds on November 2, this year’s event will see a star-studded local line-up grace the stage – including new additions San Cisco (replacing Tired Lion) – before iconic act Eurogliders and the late Graham Wood are inducted.
Revered music academic and jazz legend Wood co-founded The Ellington Jazz Club and produced four albums with his band, Graham Wood Trio. He passed away this year after a battle with cancer.
Heaven and We Will Together hitmakers Eurogliders received global recognition after dropping hit after hit in the ‘80s, and a reformation last year – following wildly successful solo careers – resulted in new album Don’t Eat The Daisies.
The awards ceremony will see 38 winners revealed – a handful of which decided via the public voted categories, which were hosted via theMusic.com.au – with the aforementioned Freo headline act joined by Stella Donnelly, Nerve Quakes and other new additions Rag N’ Bone, The Bambuseae Rhythm Section and a DJ set from Timothy Nelson.
The finalists for music photography competition Kiss My Camera have also been revealed, including The Music’s Harry Bowman, Jackie Jet, Ted Dana and more.
30 finalists have been named, with their work exhibited The Bird until the winner is announced at the official WAMFest opening party on November 1.
Head to the WAMFest website for all the details.
