Having already unveiled a killer line-up of acts like Radiohead, Foo Fighters, The National, Lorde, The Avalanches and more, Glastonbury Festival have just added another handful of acts to the five-day festival, including Fremantle-based "ecological electroswing" band Formidable Vegetable Sound System for the third time.
The band have a particular focus on permaculture, the development of agricultural ecosystems that are sustainable and self-sufficient, and let this passion guide their blend of ukelele-violin-trumpet tunes.
Speaking to The Music, vocalist Charlie Mgee says, "This will be our third Glasto, so we've thankfully developed a bit of a cult following there over the years.
"Our crowd is usually a mix of permaculture gardening fanatics, hypercolour muppet burners, barefoot hippies and electroswing steam-punks. Anyone else should come down to either get a kick out of watching our ridiculous audience, or have fun dancing to glitchy funk-swing whilst learning how to survive Climate Change and Global Weirding."
At the moment, the trio are traipsing through the US, but before long they'll head over to the UK, Malta and Iceland, stopping in to play eight shows at the famous Somerset festival.
Mgee says, "Apart from the no-brainer of Radiohead, I'm stoked to see The Cinematic Orchestra, Stanton Warriors and Ani DiFranco as well as going to check out our local homegrown talent such as Emily Barker (who I went to high school with!) and Angelique Ross (ex Brow Horn Orchestra) doing her circus thang.
"Aside from the music, there are also some really good panels & workshops on how to survive Climate Change and Global Weirding!"
They'll perform every day at Glastonbury when it kicks off on 21 June.
