Nothing brings the music to Brisbane like Bigsound! The Triffid is thrilled to announce that Bigsound's 2015 Official Closing Party will take place across both the beer garden and live music space, featuring a cracking lineup from 4pm on Friday 11 September!
Bigsound is the southern hemisphere's premier music industry conference and showcase of new music, with panel discussions by day and a massive program of live music by night.
So whether you're a conference delegate, a band or a Brissie local taking in the plethora of new bands on offer, The Triffid is where you'll want to end Bigsound 2015!
Born Lion is made up of four fiercely dedicated gentlemen who save their best kicking and screaming for the live stage, a spirited display which has earned them the right to join bills with The Hives, The Bronx, Royal Blood, and many more. Within a few short years they've successfully navigated their way out of the cutthroat Sydney underground scene, crafting vibrant high-energy punk rock sounds.
Dorsal Fins is the brainchild of Melbourne's busiest trumpet-playing songwriter, Liam McGorry (Saskwatch / Eagle and the Worm). Their debut album 'Mind Renovation' was recorded in a week last summer, channeling musical chameleons Javelin & The Avalanches. As triple j album of the week it was called "a strong and motley crew of best mates, who together make sun-kissed, genre-shifting alt-pop goodness."
THE JOHN STEEL SINGERS
As The John Steel Singers move towards their third full-Length album and 10 years in existence, it's safe to say that they are one of the most loved and iconic bands to have come out of Brisbane in recent history.
FRASER A GORMAN
This year has seen the release of Fraser A. Gorman's debut album 'Slow Gum' both in Australia and the UK. Expressing himself through wry poetry, bent tropicália, country-soul and rock n roll, Fraser has received acclaim worldwide after touring the UK and USA twice during the first half of 2015.
Ben Salter is one of Australia's most highly regarded songwriters & performers. He has released over twenty albums with bands including The Gin Club, Giants of Science and The Wilson Pickers. His main focus these days is his solo work with his second album 'The Stars My Destination' released in May 2015.
One of Australia's most unique, eclectic and fearless artists, as evidenced by electric shows, spine-tingling vocals and outrageous costumes, Papua New Guinean-born NGAIIRE is the boho-R'n'B- weirdo-dilettante raised on Top 40, American big band, reggae and Cliff Richard. Shows with Alicia Keys, John Legend and at Glastonbury attest to her rapidly rising star.
Caitlin Park writes and performs folktronica - taking folk, electronics, and neo-soul to new heights with her abstract composition and sampling. Pushing the limits again with the release of her sophomore album, 'The Sleeper' (AMP Shortlisted 2015), CP has a new thirst for sophisticated production and complex arrangements - she will show Australian music how to genre-bend at an innovative level.
ALL OUR EXES LIVE IN TEXAS
With four songwriters and four stunning female voices, All Our Exes Live in Texas make music that is refreshingly unique. Following a year of sharing stages with the likes of the Backstreet Boys, Washington, and a run of Australian Folk Festivals, this quartet promises laughter and instrumental sophistication that evoke big names such as Dolly Parton, Joni Mitchell and Gillian Welch.
Proving to be an insightful and heartfelt lyricist, Robbie spent a large portion of the past year relentlessly playing, writing, and releasing his first single 'Sunday' in October 2014. Now Robbie is gearing up to release his second single and debut EP. With triple j and public support already behind him, Robbie's undeniable and sweet falsettos will surely have you pleading for more.
Can this get any better? Yes it can!
