Byron Bay Bluesfest 2014 has become what one can only refer to as the biggest lineup in the history of the event. The fourth lineup announcement cements Bluefest's 25th Birthday as the music event of the year, adding Buddy Guy, Jake Bugg, Booker T Jones and more to the roster!
The first lineup started strong, bringing punters the likes of John Mayer, John Butler Trio, and Erykah Badu, while the second announce unveiled The Doobie Brothers and Gregg Allman. The third threatened to top both, bringing Jack Johnson and Elvis Costello into the fold.
With the fourth announcement comes Buddy Guy, widely regarded as being the musician responsible for creating a new generation of blues guitarists, influencing everyone from Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton to John Mayer and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Jake Bugg will be hot on the heels of his sophomore LP, titled 'Shangri La' and produced by the legendary Rick Rubin. The album was released this month and features more of Jake's characteristically strong vocals and his inimitable vernacular songwriting.
Meanwhile The James Cotton Blues Band will be offering fans one of the world's most singular blues discographies and one of its foremost entertainers. The eponymous James Cotton started his career playing harmonica for Howlin' Wolf and is now regarded as a living blues legend.
Speaking of legends, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer, arranger, composer, and Stax legend Booker T. Jones will be at Bluesfest. Most famous for his tenure heading the Stax house band The M.G.'s, he provided the label with some of their biggest and most iconic hits.
Rounding out the fourth announcement are Charlie Musselwhite, Eric Bibb, Beth Hart, North Mississippi Allstars, Devon Allman, Walter Trout, Candye Kane Band, who'll be performing with Laura Chavez, as well as Saidah Baba Talibah.
