Sunday June 16th will see the usually humble Fortitude Valley PCYC drastically transformed into an energetic, unique All Ages festival space for music lovers to witness this year's acts, including DZ Deathrays, Call The Shots, Set The Record, Dollarosa and House of Giants. There will be a second announcement of artists closer to the date of the festival. There will be a total of eight bands playing at this year's event, making it a more streamlined, but more dynamic and upbeat rock, trash-indie and pop-punk festival.
Perhaps the most exciting thing about Valley Vibes is that it is an all-ages event, filling a drastic hole in Brisbane's music market. Many local underage music fans are continually ignored with a distinct lack of all-ages venues and age restrictions on most major festivals.
Valley Vibes will stand as one of the few events to stand to see a stop to that, opening their ears to the youth's desperate cries. With bands such as DZ Deathrays on the lineup, who haven't played a Brisbane all-age show in over two years, Valley Vibes provides one of the only opportunities for underage fans to see the band, who have been traversing the world, live in concert. DZ Deathrays is a band who describes themselves as party/thrash and that is exactly what Valley Vibes is anticipating when they take the stage to close out the festival. They've just finished playing a run of shows with The Bronx, took out last year's Best Independent Hard Rock album at the ARIAs and have been smashing their way through Australia, USA, Canada and the UK.
The students of Music Industry College run the Valley Vibes event, from ticketing, to stage management to hospitality and booking. Although they may appear young, the Valley Vibes team consists of some of the most passionate future music industry workers today. Valley Vibes will serve to cater to all and not segregate any audiences, instead hoping to bring them together.
Valley Vibes returns for its second big year after making it's big debut in 2012!
